Karl Blau & Country Gravel

"One of America’s great indie heroes" - NME

Singer, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, DIY-icon, Karl Blau is somehow finding time to make it to St Monans this month for an early evening gig with his backing band, Country Gravel. He has released more than 40 records over 20-something years and it is such a treat to have them play for us.

Karl is travelling with Philadelphia band-members Joseph Krause (drums) and Corinne Dodenhoff (bass guitar) - together they’re looking forward to sharing their new, louder brand of country.

From Karl’s Bandcamp: “My record Love & Harm consists of a modern country rock sound. Living in Germantown, Philadlephia, starting to play a lot more shows with my backing band we're calling Country Gravel - Joseph Krause on drums and Corinne Dodenhoff on bass guitar. These records will take you all over the place. I used to want to just make sounds I'd never heard before.”

Now writing for a new record, they’ve headed to the UK to test their new songs and share some cuts from Love & Harm and Introducing translated live through this exciting three piece.

"...the clear-eyed Love & Harm is some of the DIY mainstay’s more accessible work and also among his best." - Seattle Times

"His anachronistic croon channels mid-century outlaw country, picking up other traces along the way." - Tiny Mix Tapes
